Professional Development and Training

Opportunities to continue to learn, grow, and transform are critical in today’s ever-changing environment and is the hallmark of what we represent as an institution of higher education, committed to student learning and success. We believe that knowledge is power and we strive to assist Foundation employees enhance their performance and effectiveness within their current and future roles.


Our Professional Development and Training program consists of multiple areas: New Hire Orientation, Effective Leadership, Professional growth, Business Operations (Department Specific), and Compliance.

Foundation Human Resources conducts orientation to align every new hire with the tools and resources necessary to achieve success in their careers at CSUDH Foundation. All new hires complete orientation prior to beginning any work for the organization.

To minimize the risk of legal exposure all Foundation employees are required to take certain courses to comply with federal, state, and CSU Policy.

The Leadership development series reinforces leadership principles, core competencies, team building, excellent communication, and leadership behaviors. Foundation provides virtual facilitation of the Principles of Supervision training annually.

The Professional growth series focuses on several useful topics and is available to all employees with access to CSU Learn. Access instructions can be found here!

Managers must be equipped with a wide range of resources to assist with the management of today’s workforce. Whether you are an experienced manager or just beginning your management career, the right resources will ensure your success.

Foundation staff may take advantage of the system-wide professional development trainings provided by Learning and Development that highlight a variety of trending topics. A schedule of Live webcasts from June through November 2021 can be found here.
